Jonathan Browne, with Harley Manning and Allison Stone, just published a piece for Forrester Research, Inc., that explores personas and their role in top companies’ design processes. Roundarch Isobar‘s process of connecting personas to design through the use of scenarios is cited.
“Roundarch Isobar connects personas to its design processes with scenarios. While a persona helps organizations anticipate users’ needs, it’s not a blueprint for a solution. To integrate personas into the design of products, services, and messages, firms must adopt a practice that Forrester calls “scenario design.”7 After creating a set of personas for an auto rental company, agency Roundarch Isobar determined each persona’s key goals. Designers then drew a plan of the interactions the personas would complete as they sought to achieve their goals. For example, one scenario represented a family with the goal of renting a car during a vacation.”
